AFS is proud to announce that three new associate editors joined the International Editorial Board of Annals of Forest Science. They contribute to extend the expertise of the board and will help take care of the rapidly growing number of manuscripts submitted each year.
Ana RINCÓN (39) is staff researcher at the Institute for Natural Resources (IRN), Centre for Environmental Sciences (CCMA) Spanish Research Council (CSIC), Madrid, Spain. Her major research interests are around the biodiversity of rhizosphere microorganisms, with special emphasis on ectomycorrhizal symbioses, afforestation, soil regeneration. She holds a Ph D from University of Barcelona (1978). She will handle the manuscripts devoted to plant-miccroorganism symbioses and microbial biodiversity in soils.
Barry GARDINER (55) is Programme leader, Timber Properties Programme and Deputy Head of Forest Management Division, Forest Research, Northern Research Station, Roslin, Midlothian, UK. Trained as a physicist and micrometeorologist, he is a recognised expert in wind-tree interactions and in tree biophysics. He developed research programs about the quality of existing forest resource and the impact of management and genetic choice on timber quality. He contributed to the development of models able to predict the impact of management on key wood properties and timber performance. He will handle the manuscripts devoted to tree biophysics, wood and timber properties.
Douglass Frederick JACOBS (38) is currently Associate Professor at the Hardwood Tree Improvement and Regeneration Centre, Department of Forestry and Natural Resources, Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana (USA) and visiting professor at the School of Forestry, Technological University of Madrid (Spain). He holds a PhD in Forestry from Oregon State University, Corvallis, Oregon, USA. His main interests are in reforestation, tree physiology and silviculture of planted and natural forests. He will handle the manuscripts devoted to silviculture, forest regeneration and management.
